Dismiss the Conventional Electricity Connection by Installing Domestic Solar Panels

May 15th, 2013 by Andreas Xavier in Energy. Topics: , ,

First of all let us understand what the domestic solar panels are and how they work. In simple words the solar panels are a system that transforms the power of sun into electricity to power the appliances at home, to light the home and to run various devices such as water heater and air conditioner.

A solar system is a very sophisticated system and after many centuries of research mankind has finally been able to harness the ceaseless power of sun. At a first glance many people think that such advanced and suave system must be very expensive and only large organizations and affluent people can afford it. However, the reality is though initially it was expensive to own this system for residential purpose, today it is quite within the reach of even small home owners. Ever since the key to convert the solar energy was found, exhaustive efforts were made using technology to make it affordable for everyone.

The reasons why governments all over the world are investing so much time and money to make solar panels common and make the grid electricity connection redundant are as follows:

  • Solar energy is free and renewable:

The primary benefit of using solar energy is that that it is totally free. Once the solar panels are installed, owner of the home will get the power to run various appliances, devices and lighting in the home without any cost. There will be no electricity bills to be paid for the rest of the life. Over and above this the solar energy is a renewable source of energy and it will never get less even by a fraction no matter how much power you seize from the sun.

  • It is environment friendly:

Currently a large demand of electricity is met by burning fossil fuels which are being depleted at an alarming rate. Fossil fuels are not renewable and it takes thousands of years for them to develop. Another drawback of using fossil fuel is that when they are used to generate electricity they emit many harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and sulfur oxide responsible for green house effects, global warming and harmful effects on the protective ozone layer. But when the solar panels convert the power of sun into electricity no such gas is released and it does that silently too.

  • Solar panels are durable:

If you are thinking that solar panels are expensive and not everyone can afford to have them installed in their homes, then you are mistaken. First of all the rates of solar panels are much lesser than the rates prevailing two decades ago. And second of all the panels are highly durable, so once you install them you do not have to spend a penny towards their maintenance for coming two or three decades. Thus your installation cost will be written off in a few years and after that whatever electricity you generate is totally free.

  • It opens up an opportunity of earning:

If you decide to get the solar panels installed on the roof of your home and the electricity that is generated through that system is excess to your domestic usage, then that excess electricity you can sell to the conventional grid electricity company. These companies will readily buy such electricity from you, giving you an opportunity to generate an income out of it.

Conclusion:

Looking at the current scenario of globalization and economic policies like consumerism being followed everywhere; the need for electricity is only going to increase. With such upsurge in the demand of electricity it is morally, economically and environmentally advisable to use solar systems to meet both domestic and commercial requirement of electricity.
