Fund development and why we have ads on this site

June 14th, 2009 by admin

Lets start with the fund development :D . Since the start the fund has developed extremely well and as I wrote when we started all this:

Both funds have had a terrible year since they've lost about 40% of their value in a year, but we now believe it's a good time to invest and that they will develop perfectly.

I think the chart over the development show that I was correct:

XavierMedia.org fund development since the start in October

However the true development isn't 60% up, because of an additional investment we did earlier this year. But still the fund is up at least 40%.

Now to the reason for ads here at XavierMedia.org. We added ads to earn some extra money to invest in this fund, which means that we will keep track on how much money we earn on ads on this site and invest all earnings into the funds.

When we do additional investments in the funds because of the earnings from XavierMedia.org we will of course keep you updated with all the relevant details :D . Xavier Media, Xavier Media International and Xavier Finans will of course still contribute to the fund investments as we've done before.

You will be able to keep track on all addditional investments using the category "New investment".

Exxon Valdez

Exxon Valdez

March 25th, 2009 by admin

On March 24th 1989 (20 years ago) Exxon Valdez, an American oil tanker, was involved in the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history where over 2000 kilometers  coastal line was filled with over 40,000 tonnes of crude oil. This happened outside Alaska and the approximate damage to the animal life in Alaska was: 250,000 seabirds, nearly 3000 sea exit, 300 seals, 250 sea eagles and around 20 killer whales have been killed as a direct result of the spill.  In addition, reduced stocks of small fish as herring and cod.

A whole Indian community that lived on fishing in the area went bankrupt just because of the accident!

Exxon dismissed the drunk captain and was sentenced in 1994 to pay five billion U.S. dollars in damages. Exxon did however manage to get the U.S. judicial system to reduce the fine down to just 500 million U.S. dollars.

Still 20 years later there are still some oil on the coastal line, but Exxon is not interested in cleaning up any more since they claim the oil residues are not dangerous to the wild life.

Exxon Valdez was repaired, renamed to the Sea River Mediterranean, and continued to go in traffic for Exxon until 2002 but with the prohibition to sail to Alaska and European ports. According to some sources the ship remains in the Far East…..

Support WWF in their work making the world a better place since companies like Exxon seems to not be interested in helping.

Earth Hour – Save energy

March 11th, 2009 by admin

Earth HourThis month on the 28th (last Saturday in March) at 8:30 PM, people and companies all over the world will turn lights off to support an initiative created by WWF (World Wild-life Foundation) against climate change.

According to www.earthhour.org more than 930 cities and towns in 80 countries have already committed to VOTE EARTH for Earth Hour 2009, as part of the worlds first global election between Earth and global warming.

Companies encouraging their local offices and facilities to switch off their lights in support of this initiative include companies like Coca-Cola, IKEA, Electrolux and Hilton Hotels (and of course Xavier Media :) ).

Earth Hour started in Sydney, Australia in 2007 when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. During 2008 this spread around the globe as a global sustainability movement, with over 50 million people switching off their lights. Some of the more famous contributors in 2008 where Golden Gate Bridge and the Coca-Cola billboard in Times Square.

VOTE EARTH you too by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Earth Hour got an account at Twitter you can follow and you can also see videos at YouTube.com.

Please consider your environmental responsibility…..

January 12th, 2009 by admin

Today I got an email where the person sending the email had the following text in the signature:

Please consider your environmental responsibility before printing this e-mail

I've seen it before, but it wasn't until today I reacted.

How many emails to you actually print? I rarely print email, only if it's an invoice I need for financial things, but otherwise I never print emails.  I have however noticed that some people press the print button as soon as they get an email no matter what's in it. And that makes me wounder do we really have to tell people to stop printing emails and consider the environmental responsibility?

Unfortunately it looks like that since some people actually put it in their signature.

We also have the other side of the "coin" where people like me never print emails unless it's an important contract or invoice. So is the sender telling me then that his email isn't important at all?

"Since you only print important emails you don't have to print my email because it's completely un-important".

I don't think that's the message the sender wanted to share, but we have way too long to the paperless society :(

Save a three by not print this :D

New graph

December 7th, 2008 by admin

We've just created a new graph where you can follow the development of the investments we've done. Unfortunately it's not that nice reading at the moment since we're at minus :( , but we hope to improve that over time :D

To display this graph on your own web site you can use this code:

First week update

October 25th, 2008 by admin

We've had our investment for about one week now and guess what. It actually increased in value. Unfortunately the stock market went down a lot yesterday and I don't think that's included in the share prices for the mutual funds we've invested in just yet. I think we'll see that on Monday, but still so far an increase :D

Xavier Media is investing in companies following the WWF guidelines

October 18th, 2008 by admin

We've just made our first investment in the two mutual funds working in accordance with the WWF guidelines: SEB Baltic Sea Fund and Skandia WWF Fund (you can read more about the funds in our About page). Both funds have had a terrible year since they've lost about 40% of their value in a year, but we now believe it's a good time to invest and that they will develop perfectly. this will not be a one time investment, but Xavier Media will of course invest a part of their profits each year in this kind of funds.

Hopefully this investment will grow alot and help WWF contribute to a better world or as they say it "for a living planet". I will do a few posts here to keep you all updated on the development (which we all hope will be good from this point). We also hope that the world economy has reach the rock bottom for this time.

When I setup this site I started wondering why we don't see any of the other big buys in the blogsphere do something similar? They all list their profits, but they never speak about any kind of donations to WWF or any other organization dedicated to save our planet :???:.

For example John Chow made over $38 000 in September 2008, but from what I know I've never seen any post about him donating any money to WWF or any similar organization :( . Why? My guess is that he's too cheap to share his profits with our planet.
